I have seen that icon only once in my life, it was on a mac classic 512k. Happend when the system folder got corupted, solution: put the OS install disk in the drive when you boot up and re-install the system. It will take only a few minutes and none of your data will be harmed.
conclusion, if the flashing disk is somehow a jab at Apple, I seriously don't see it's relevance considering how rare that error is. However, if you wan't a funny "ant-apple" icon, might I suggest an apple bomb icon, that would be equivalant to a BSOD, and on a classic system which isn't tuned up and INITs and extensions are let run wild, bombs can be a common occurance indeed.
In any case, all of these problems are rather obsolite, concidering crashing and system errors are a thing of the past. Try OS X lately?
