Sorry man, this is just depressing.  Essentially this is another "MS Gets away with it again" story.  MS strongarmed OEMS into keeping Windows, and ONLY windows on new PC's.  They *&#$ed BeOS.  Now they pay only $23 million (which one Slashdot poster caluclated to be 18 hours of MS profits).  And what do they get with this $23 million payment?  They get to avoid admitting any wrongdoing.

This is exactly what happened with the Justice Department.  They supposedly lost, wrote a check for the fine, and wrote terms in the settlement that kept the DOJ from prosecuting them for bundling anything they want into the OS.  This BeOS settlement, just like the DOJ settlement, is another victory for MS.

Remeber that #&$*ing bastard Michael Millikan who destroyed the stock market in the late 80's with his junk bonds.  He made so much money that the multimullion dollar fine was chump change for him.. he wrote a check that day.
In brightest day, in darkest night, no evil shall escape my sight....

Oh I agree,

but it's a start. Courts are beginning to fine them hopefully it will become a world wide sport, until they get the message that their behaviour in NOT acceptable under any circumstances.
