This is so awsome, I wish I were one of those kids. But then again, if M$ did this I don't think it would be so cool.

Now I understand why Apple was so against the settlement M$ proposed that would put Wintel PC's in the hands of chilldren from underprivaleged schools.

But then again being given your own awsome little laptop is way way more cool than having some locked up windoze box that is probably used to spy on the workhabits of our younger generation so M$ can market better.

Yeah, I bet someone at M$ got fired for that one!  How could they miss the chance to brainwash little kids with their bloated cheapass fuckware.  M$ could have had thousands of faithful robots chanting Billy's name for years to come.  Lined up for every  update that will send M$ all the information it needs about their little lifestyles so Billy can market to their needs.   Take care of them.  And make sure the M$ logo is firmly implanted into their brains.

Instead, those kids will now learn the most advance operating system in the world.  They'll be more creative, nicer, have a brighter future and just plain be smarter.  

But what's even better is that one day they will buy their own Macs.  Learn what a true computer experience is......and  if luck will have it....maybe even visit the fuckmicrosoft.com forums and tell the tale of narrowly missing the terrible grasp of Bill Gates and M$ and living to tell about it.  True  legends in their own time.

There used to be only Macs in my school board, before the greedy-ass, poorly-managed board decided they'd be better off with PII/266's (that don't age well), running NT 4 (which really doesn't age well).

I miss all those Perfs.

The only thing I hated about the Mac's in my school was At Ease.

I think that program is responsible for 90% of kids getting a bad impression of Macs right from the start. At Ease totally cripples the interface, slows down performance, and makes the OS totaly crash prone.

I hate the thing. Fool Proof was a lesser evil.

If schools adopted the security fetures found in OS9 and X they would not have to ruin the user experience for thier students.
