My 1337 new G3

Im sooooooo excited, i just got a blue-and-white G3 for free!  its only 300mhz though, which is why i want to ask all you mac users this quesiton:  will it run OS X ok, or will it be slower than shit?

Also, have any of you mac users overclocked a G3 before?

Pissed_Macman:
I've never experienced this first-hand, but I've heard that G3s are known to have memory problems while running OS X. There are ways to turn off some of the animations and save memory though. OS X should run fine after that.

You got that for free???

ya i know, my friend was like "yeah my mom is throwing out this G3" and i was like "um ill take that!"  :D

But really, they have memory problems?  would it be helped by putting in more memory than needed?  i.e. if i wanted it to perform like it had 128 megs should i put in 256?

hm_murdock:
I have a G3 500 and it's fine, even with the cruddy Rage 128 Ultra video.

cloudstrife:
Yippee, hopefully mine works

Heres another question - do i hafta buy a special mac video card, or could i replace it with a PC video card?
