wow. apple has only 3% of the market share, and they sold that many that quickly? record labels should be happy.

Damn, that's a lot of songs considering the limited amount of people who have access to it.  4/5% market share and only in the US.

Interestingly, that is a HUGE amount of downloads, considering the fact that the service is still not available in most countries around the world.

In future the marketshare's will be more like this
Microsoft 17%
Apple 40%
(Various Linux Distro's will use the rest)

That would be nice, unfortunately I don't see it happening any time soon.

No, Apple should stay the same size it is now. We don't need all those stupid people ruining it for the rest of us.

Of course you want the windoids!  Windoids = RnD money!  You just don't want them making a decision on how that money is spent.  Think about it, if Apple can make such products on the small market share/incomes they're on now, how much better would they be if they had like three times the share/income?   ;)
Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that

They'd get corrupted and Steve Jobs would turn to the Dark Side. Pretty soon iCrap will be downloading without our knowledge and we'd have to upgrade every two days. Maybe Apple can go a little, but after that things won't be pretty.

I am tired of everyone worrying that Apple becomes the "next Microsoft". I mean, Microsoft was not a company that became corrupt with power; it was "evil" since the very beginning. I am talking about Bill Gates, who betrayed one of his good friends to licence MS-DOS to IBM (QDOS was an illegal hack of the CP/M, from Gary Kildall who was one of Gates' friends back then). That was even before Microsoft became an empire.

Apple started as a decent company, and stayed decent for 25 years, even though they grew from a garage and three people to a multi-billion corporation. Heck, IBM is bigger than Microsoft! (in terms of size, not market share).

I agree that we should never blindly trust any company, but some people sound like Chicken Little. It's annoying.

Apple sells over 1 million songs in the first week.
article-
not bad. maybe the studios will see this, and maybe calm down on the whole digital music issue. maybe.
