Yesterday I heared an advertisment my Wal-Mart on the radio.

They were advertising Linux PCs! (They didn't say which distro).

An interesting Note, they are based largely on the VIA chips mentioned in the AMD thread on the "microsoft in the news forum".

While said to be a crappy chicp, they keep the comp's at under 200, so I guess it's a good deal overal. Hell, for the price of XP you get a whole computer.

I think they were selling them at $299. Maybe I should get one and use it as a server or something...

hmmm.... this is starnge. I went to the wallmart site and thesea are all Duron. I could have swarn I saw some running 500mhz VIA chips. They came pre-installed with Lindows. They were like 199.

ya i was just guessing. I thought my estimate was too high. The ones you were lookin at didnt come with a monitor either.

I haven't seen any advertising...I guess that is new.

Look right below the description:
A full computer with Linux (OK, pull out Lindows, and put something good on) or 1 copy Windows XP Pro? Take your pick.

i wouldnt use something that fancy for my server. I use a 166MHz Pentuim MMX, 32MB RAM, 1GB HD, for my server.
