Ah ha! So you admit that there are programs needed for business that Linux can't run. Isn't that admitting that it isn't a complete solution? As for "needing windows" to run your business apps, I'm sure you could just buy a mac for those few programs, in which case you would be wrong and you wouldn't have to use Windows for anything. So it's like I said: nobody is forcing you to use windows. nobody is forcing businesses to use windows. The competition is small, but it's there. People are simply under the impression that they can't live without Windows, and I think people like void main who don't use Windows at all prove them wrong.
1. yeah i admit there are programs linux cant run.. it isnt really admitting it, because i never denied it. see, mn uses formats that ONLY mn progs can open, so you cant use a 3rd party linux prog to open ALL of the files you need.
2. i never said there was a solution. im not a die-hard linux superuser that says linux is god you will all die and be eaten. if i say that im joking. i think that linux IS superior, but some needs can only be met w/ a windows system, as sad as it is to say.
3. again, a mac cant run all the neccesary programs, not to mention i have little respect for mac, anyways. they are big etch-a-sketches
4. people are forcing us to use windows, same as 1, there are certain file types.
5. business's are forcing themselves to use windows, by beleiving false advertisements, untrue promises, and hopefull wishing. mn makes us believe it will solve our problems, only to cause more. not to mention the whole IBM thing, about ONLY using windows. some people cant afford IT's and NEED someone to basicly bottle feed them servers, like IBM does, and RackMount.
6. the compitition isnt small, it just cant advertise as much as mn. Open Source DOESNT get a profit, most the time. the only thing that keeps them alive is 500 people who tell 500 friends, who inturn tell another 500 friends, and 200 or them make a website about it, informing 500,000 people who tell 500,000 people who join a forum to fight the evil that is closed source mn, a virus pleagueing the computer world. Linux, Unix, and other opensource OS's stay alive with there reputation of people good os's. is mn didnt advertise, they would die in 10 years. if they were open source, they would thrive for 100 years more.
7. Why do you think people are under the impression they cant live w/o windows? maybe cause of the formats that mn made up to squash the competitors, maybe because they have deals w/ business's like IBM? maybe because some programs are NEEDED and only run on a win32 kernal, but that same program, if one person gets a free copy of it and installs it on there pc, if they are on a network and it is a network app, the entire network has to BUY it for the serial code, and install it, because alot of mn progs ARENT backwards compatible? there is alot of reasons why mn FORCES us to use windows. ok, so you say "well you dont have to use a computer then". ok, what about if you are in a job, then need excel, linux doesnt have it, would you quit the job because you didnt like windows? would you die out of spite? didnt think so. that is force. you cannot deny that microsoft doenst have the power to make excel, word perfect, or windows cost upwards on $3000. or as low as $20. you cannot deny that they have the world by the balls. now, that is a monopoly.
