they are doing it to compete with open source but i have a feeling that once other governments see whats behind the b$ they're going to run to a open source o/s.

looks like the debacle of several governments (and government departments) in several countries round the world publicly saying they would rather use linux because of security and money issues has given their shitty 'shared source initiative' and their crappy 'TCO studies' a place in society that's about as important as Microsoft Bob.
