get linux

Well... i kinda fucked up linux.... badly. So i am in windows right now trying to dl slackware. I have a 500mb partition for C: (hda3) and a 3Gb partition for d: (hdb2). Now, i'm trying to download slackware iso which is 663MB, I'm downloading it to d:\ but for some reason windows has to have it completely in a temp file on C:\ and then copy it to d:\. Of course there isnt enough room on C: for it. So is there any fucking way for me to download a linux iso?????

can you symlink or mount the temp dir in any way to D:\ ? i suppose not, from what i remember.

what i would probably do is tarball the windows partition, then unzip the tarball onto d:\ then i would use fdisk or cfdisk to hide C:\ from windows (perhaps even reformat it as ext2?) so that your previous d:\ was the new c:\ and go from there, now you have enough room on C:\ and your iso will end up in the right partition that you were aiming for in the first place.

actually i just noticed that you have c: and d: on different physical drives, why not just tarball c:\ then untar it onto d: and then swap the drives round so that hdb is now hda and vice versa? then d: will be c: and vice versa too.

but if you're going to do all that crap, why not just install linux (a working one) on one of your partitions and go from there?

i presume you must have a spare system partition you can wipe if you are talking hdb3 and so on?

Are you downloading it with IE? If you are try using a download manager instead. IE stupidly keeps the temp file as it's downloading on whatever partition your internet cache is stored.

mozilla.... and as for a spare Linux.... i lost the first redhat 8 CD, i do have it stored on my linux partition which i cant get to. And i blanked my redhat8.1 cd in preparation. But!, i do have Mandrake 6.0 and OpenBSD. So i might try OpenBSD.
