Zombie9920:
I don't know how to block ads with Firebird because I've never used it's ad blocking feature.
One of my firewalls(Norton Personal Firewall 2003) is capable of blocking ads and pop-ups for all browsers available to Windows. I also have another pop-up blocker combined with the firewall popup blocker. It is the popup blocker in the Google Toolbar(for IE). The google pop-up blocker does not block the ads that are embedded into a page, it only blocks pop-ups.
I also manually block ad sites and spyware addresses via the HOSTS file. If you use Windows and you want to block most ads and known spyware url's try my hosts file. You don't have to rely on ad-blocking capabilites of a certain browser when you have the IP/URL of the ad sites permanently blocked from your TCP/IP connection.
I also have it set to read-only so no malicious website can modify it. When a bad site is blocked via the hosts block your computer sends back a fake IP so they can't log your real IP address(my hosts file sends back the IP 127.0.0.0 which is a standard fake IP).
My HOSTS file is located below(right click the link and save it). If you don't know where HOSTS belongs, it goes in \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ .(replace Windows with WINNT if you use Windows 2000). If you don't use Windows the HOSTS file is useless(it contains URL's of sites you want to block that you can add to whatever block list method your OS uses though).
