Microsoft will cause programming havoc
« on: 23 January 2004, 18:56 »
First there was the C# language that MS made, which is basically a ripoff of C++ and Java. Now they're moving further.

quote:
I hope you guys have mastered C#, because Microsoft is working to replace it with yet another C-like programming language. Dubbed Xen (previously X#), the new language melds C# with XML and SQL support, and to be fair, if done correctly, it will be a superset of C#, prompting me to wonder if the company won't wisely just market it as a new C# version whenever it ships. Otherwise, the company risks alienating C# users as it did to Visual Basic users when it moved from the simple VB 6.0 language to the more complicated Visual Basic .NET version.

As a computer science student, this ticks me off. MS is doing nothing but creating more uncompatibility in the programming world. Fuck them assholes.

The XML integration in C# was already annoying... just typing comments? No sorry, it's got to be in XML.

I'm learning C# at school, after our management thought it was better for us to learn something "newer" than C++. I hate my school.

Why does MS get to control programming?  Aren't there still C and C++ stuff for Windows made by Borland, or other companies?

As for C# - utter crap.
