Dll hacking (legal stuff)
« on: 18 July 2003, 17:36 »
Hi,

some of you remember me from a few months ago as the unfortunate Win98 user seeking advice for switching to Linux Man-9.1. Now, I have never been happier using computers, Linux crashed only ONCE in all these times, and that was when i was screweing up with wine.

To the point: I'm hacking some underdog game, which is obviously freeware now, and adapting it to Serbian language to sell it as a complete new product here (legal). I have made progs for extracting gifs, wavs, bmps and other stuff from the VOL files (similar to tribes games). I've also modified the string data in exe and dll files, but there are some graphix (ingame buttons) which are inside DLL files.

Can anyone tell me good sites where I could read some english tutorials about DLL hacking or stuff like that? Or maybe you have a tool already which could help me. The thing is, i can see beginning and ends of the files, like in normal directory files, but you know they're different enough for me to be unable to figure them out by myself, i cant decrypt them.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.
Peace out.

Stryker

Wouldn't it be much easier to look through the source code of these dlls?

And I'm not so sure you'll have much luck here.

Yeah, but there are bits of pictures in the Dlls, and , yes I will try disassembling it...

Just thought I'd try my luck here anyway. Haven't posted here for a while either    so...
Peace out.
