I can't get my Palm Pilot to sync on my XP home edition. Palm Pilot just sends me canned info to fix it, which doesn't work.

It works on my 2000 machines just fine.

Any ideas?  I have downloaded all the latest software from Palm. I am using Outlook to sync.

i realise you might think i am taking the piss, but i assure you i am completely serious, why not ditch the virus traps known as windows and outlook, that are little more than overpriced toys anyway, and jump onboard the linux wagon? i have got mandrake 8.2 and , while i don't have a PalmPilot and will probably never use it, my linux distro comes with a complete complement of programs for syncing to PalmPilots. by the looks of things it is totally tooled up for such a thing.

Also, you needn't pay any money for linux if you do not like it. At worst, you can still go back to windows after you try it (although i can't see it happening), and you will not have lost a penny.

Good luck!

Grandma, forget that joker's advice, Linux is no OS for grandmas to use. (or anyone who actually wants to get some work done)  What I would do is ditch the Palm, they are about to go under anyway, and get one of the new Pocket PC's from Microsoft.  They are the best PDA's out there right now, and work great with Windows XP.  You can find great deals on Ebay, (although I don't know who would want to sell one; I have one and it's great, knocks the socks off the Palm and those pathetic Linux PDA's) or you can buy one from places like Best Buy or Office Depot.

grandma, seriously, are you going to let somebody who would generalise and patronise you dictate to you like this? just read some of this fleabrain's other posts to put this one in context.

and get one of the new Pocket PC's from Microsoft.

that sounds like the soundest qualification ever that they are the WORST!

Tell me something, Windoze XPiss user #0, have you ever considered asking for help from a decent psychiatrist? You must have noticed by now, that these are the Microsoft Eradication Society forums. If you have noticed that then I have to assume that you're: 1) plain stupid, 2) thinking we're plain stupid, 3) acting stupid, 4) working for M$, 5) pulling our leg. Since I don't know you then I'll have to rule out option #1. I'll certainly rule out #2, since we're clever enough to know the difference between an "os" and an OS. So, that leaves me with three more options, which I believe are connected in some way and that you're standing somewhere in between those three. Whichever it is though, as far as I'm concerned you're just a shithead killing your time here. So, please (look, I'm asking that politely) F-U-C-K O-F-F  :D

I ma not be Calcum, but I can give you an answer.
Yes I have used a Pocket PC running Windows.  And guess what? it crashed on me!  It was slow and pathetic.  While the Sharp Zaurus was fast and didn't crash when I used it.  And tha Palm, although slower than the Zaurus, was faster than the Pocket PC, and more reliable than the Pocket PC.

Palm's are better than Pocket PC's will ever be.  Microsoft is digging themselves a nice big hole and will go the way of Enron.

I've used a Pocket Pussy.  And luckily it runs UNIX!  It would have been an extremely painful and bloody eXPerience if it had been running some M$ drool.

Why do people think that this is a XP tech support forum of all things?

You would think the readily available profanity would convince them otherwise.

Someone should just lock this entire post and be done with it.

OK. You're right.

now, windowsxpuser697374who4628gives389a371fuck363? is obviously an M$ employee, and may well be a dumbassed moron. At a stretch, this may all be part of his so called sense of humour too.

Regarding the palm/desktop synch issue, my prognosis for anyone in this predicament is: get linux, and leave PalmOS running on your Palm computer. You will find it very simple and problem free to set up so i have heard.

This topic is now closed. The only reason it didn't close sooner is because somebody had asked a question and i wanted to let people answer it.

The fact that i am closing it now is very important as it shows that windowsxpdumbass647841684 has succeeded in his objective of making our discussions on this forum pointless. When a question is asked, i expect the thread to be used for answering the question or for discussion of the topic at hand. It should not be filled up with the half deranged drivellings of a windoid. This sets a dangerous precedent and if it continues, i will be deleting posts instead of closing topics.
