There is absolutley nothing wrong with hunting deer. I think that it is nessicary to hunt deer every year to help control the deer population. Why does the deer population need to be controlled? Simple, if it isn't controlled the deer become a huge menace.

They destroy crops, they knock over trash cans, occasionally they attack small pets like dogs and cats, in some rare cases they will attack humans(mostly likely when they are lost and scared), they get lost and find their way into a city and when they do they become scared, confused and unorientated...so unorientated that they will actually run head first into houses, fences, parked cars, etc. Not only that, but when they find their way into a big city they become a huge risk to traffic as well because they are stupid. They run out right in front of traffic no matter how busy the street, highway, freeway is.

More deer even make the roads outside of a city/town more dangerous because of their stupidity.

This stuff is a fact. For a few years the Government of the state I live in(Indiana) restricted hunters from killing anymore than 1 doe per year and what happened? Well the doe population went up bigtime and because of that...you guessed it...the deer related car crash statistics went up big time in those 2 years.  Alot of those increased crashes resulted in injuries and fatalities for the people involved in the crashes. Even if you hit a deer and don't sustain any major injuries there is still the burden of your car being damaged. Needless to say, the government of Indiana realized how big of a mistake the restriction was so they raised the restricition to 5 doe for 2 years(seasons) to get rid of some of that extra doe population and then they lowered it back down to normal(3 doe).

Interestingly enough, they never tampered with the buck restricitions.

Hmm...I believe the human population is menacing society.  All they do is create pollution, and get into fights.  Im going to hunt me some people...

Very funny. I really dislike the logic that animal rights activists display.

Why don't they complain about animals hunting other animals? At least when a human does the hunting it is humane. We shoot the animal and it is dead within seconds(providing that it is shot in the right place). Even if the animal is shot in not such a good place and it takes longer for it to die like say an hour it is still more humane than how other animals kill. How? Well we don't eat the animal alive. We make sure it is dead before we even attempt to eat it. The same can't be said for other animals like say wolves, coyotes, large cats, etc. When they overtake their prey they will start eating it wether it is dead or alive. I bet it would be an excrutiating death to be eaten alive.

The sad thing about animal rights activists is some of them eat meats despite the fact that they think it is bad to kill an animal even though it isn't. In nature there is one simple law to survival. You must eat to survive and hunt or be hunted. Do you think for a minute that there are groups of animals that bitch, whine and complain about animals killing other animals and humans? Hell no. I'll tell you what I would find quite funny. It would be funny to see an activist run into a pack of wolves out in the woods simply because they would experience 1st hand how the law of nature works and the food chain works(hunt or be hunted). I garantee those wolves won't hesitate to attack that activist. That activist would then see how brutal nature really is. Too bad the activist probably wouldn't survive to tell about experience and how he now realizes that his old way of thinking was flawed and totally against the laws of nature and the food chain.

Humans are meat eaters so eating vegetables only is not a viable alternative for most of us. Activists are really dillusional.

Well, I don't know if you have ever been unfotunate enough to have lost a loved one to a a deer collision but there are lots of people who have and I'm sure the loss was devistating to the ones who lost the loved one.

If the deer aren't controlled those devistating accidents go up alot. It isn't really the deers fault that they are stupid(that is how they were created) but then again it isn't a drivers' fault that the deer are stupid either. Why should a driver have to worry about the stupidity of an animal? Lets say a deer collision victim driver has never had a wreck, never had a speeding ticket or anything. That means he/she was a good driver and the only reason the deer collision occured was because of the stupidity and wrecklessness of the animal(not the human). It is just sad.

HEY!!!

It's not just the Army...The Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard Contribute to the destruction of the Earth as well...But it's OK for us...We get fined Millions of Dollars per installation every year for EPA violations...Which makes us like catholics going to confession  :D

Besides, We have EPA exceptions, it's even placarded on our vehicles

If you can't detect the sarcasm in this then FUGOLV!

Anyway, comparing hunting to ecological destruction through mechanical means and polution is 2 entirely different critters!!!

No one cries for the deer that gets devoured alive by a wolf as was previously stated.  But let a human shoot and eat something and waaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaa!!! PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!

My god, I didn't know deer were such a huge problem!! You're right Viper, they must be exterminated, because there is OBVIOUSLY and EPIDEMIC of deer-related deaths. You hear about it on the news at LEAST ten times a day that someone else has been heartlessly slaughtered by a deer! We must rename this site deerosuck and start plotting how we will deal this this enormous problem that not only threatens to destroy humanity, BUT THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!!

Hilarious, just simply hilarious. Did I say that deer are a threat to humanity? No..I said too many of them are a fucking menace. They are simply a nusiance because of how stupid they are. Did I say that we should hunt them to extiction? No. They need to have their population controlled but they certainly don't need to be completely wiped out. Why don't you try being being serious instead of sarcastic man?
