FINALLY!!!!

Hi All,

Just had to tell someone... My new computer with RH 8 installed just arrived!  Bad thing is that I'm at work and can't play with it for another few hours.  I may just have to get sick and leave early :) Maybe not make it in tomorrow either...

I ordered if from LinuxComputerSystems.com and will let everybody know what I think about their machine after I've had it up and running for a while.  Briefly though, the spec's are:

P4 1.8
40 GB 7200 RPM hard drive
256 MB RAM
32 MB video card
52x CDROM
40x12x40 CDRW
17" Optiquest Q71 monitor
and etc.

Seems like it should be a decent setup for the time being and the near future.  Certainly a lot better than the P166 w/ 48 MB RAM I've been using for Linux.

Anyway, now I can finally try RH 8 and see how it compares to the RH 6.2 I've been running since I first tried Linux last August.

Hey Jim; no offence, dude, but I hate you!!  Congrats on the new box.  We've got to get in touch; I've got the mechanical assembly done on my server, but I'm at a loss as to how to setup the LAN.  (BTW: total cost of my server so far is $0.00; GOD, I love swapping things!!)

Been a while since I've seen you.  We should get together at least once here during the holday season.  

Yeah, finally having a "modern" computer to use for Linux will be great.  Not that I haven't had a lot of fun with the old box and RH 6.2, but....

I'll be seeing Eliot this afternoon, and he's got a lot of experience setting up LAN's.  I'm having him give me a hand with mine.  I'll talk to him and send you an e-mail about when we might be able to get some time.
