YAU.EXE

(1/4) > >>

jimvt:
One ball-buster of a "virus" has gotten into my system which seems to be called "yau.exe."

It shows up in the Start Menu and can't be permanently deleted or shredded.

I can't use Norton Anti-Virus or Clean Sweep.  They pop up then disappear.

One site wizard said it might be linked to a porn site and a Google search turned up the "yau.exe" and a reference to America.net but no links to a solution.

Any help greatly appreciated.  I'm getting ready to format the damn drive but my wife has a bunch of her stuff on that I will have to save.

Dude I think I know what the answer to your question will be - you have seen the url havent you?

Back up all files onto CDR. Not CDRW or you may overwrite them.

Then format.

Then install linux.  Linux doesnt get viruses from what I hear (thanks Void Main   ;)  )

Remember to save all email addresses, bookmarks and ICQ (or other IM) contact details.  I lost all those when I switched because I didnt back them up.
BTW I hope you dont use windows after this. Linux can do everything you can do in windows and a lot more... it just better   :D
