One ball-buster of a "virus" has gotten into my system which seems to be called "yau.exe."

It shows up in the Start Menu and can't be permanently deleted or shredded.

I can't use Norton Anti-Virus or Clean Sweep.  They pop up then disappear.

One site wizard said it might be linked to a porn site and a Google search turned up the "yau.exe" and a reference to America.net but no links to a solution.

Any help greatly appreciated.  I'm getting ready to format the damn drive but my wife has a bunch of her stuff on that I will have to save.

I actually wrote a tutorial about this exact problem and you can read it here.

I would go with choice E jimvt... Just think what happens if the next virus or just plain windows fuck up wipes out some personal and/or extremely important data? (or if some kode kiddie should get your personal details and your next credit card purchases listing has five hundred dollars under "Sarahs house of smut."  Get linux or whatever, just not windows!
