What is it?
GM Autonomy

What's special about it?
With increasing concerns about finite petroleum resources and environmentally harmful emissions come increasing interest in fuel-cell vehicles. GM is investing lots of money and brainpower into making a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle viable, and the Autonomy is its current state of the art.

Resembling a large, futuristic skateboard, the Autonomy chassis is just 6 inches thick, yet incorporates all its propulsion and control systems. One of the many benefits of such an efficient design is that it allows the body to be virtually anything from a sport coupe to a pickup truck. Another advantage is that it allows the driver and passengers more room, as there is no engine, transmission and driveshaft(s) impinging on the cabin. A central "docking port" on the chassis' top surface connects all controls by wire, from steering and braking to climate system.

Details were unavailable as far as specific output and range, but increasing power would simply involve adding "plates" of fuel cells, and a fuel-cell vehicle should provide over twice the fuel economy of a comparable gasoline-powered counterpart. Other amazing facts for this fuel source are that the only byproducts are water vapor and heat and that hydrogen is the most abundant element known to man.

Why should you care?
Like it or not, we need to work on finding fuel sources other than gasoline. GM is giving this endeavor a great effort (they have obtained hundreds of patents in this area) and believe that fuel-cell vehicles will be on the road before this decade is over.

The Dodge M80 resembles a rip off of the infamous "Power Wagons".

The Chevy Belair looks shitty just like the new Thunderbird.

The Dodge Razor does resemble the old 60's Euro sports cars without that retro look that the PT Cruiser or the Prowler has.

I actually like the Ford Fourty Nine, it's design is very grounded in the past with no ties to the new age that I can bitch about.

And the GT40.. I only like the 500 Horse and 500 Foot pound's torque motor...  Good look too.

I'll stick with my 1980 Ford Courier.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to see the new Skyline GT-R shipped over to the US. Oh, Aaron, guess why the Dodge Razor has it's name? (It doesn't have a spare tire...)

Replace the headrests with Normal headrests and I'd drive that prototype Charger anyday.  Just for the 440 Cubic Inch motor... *Drools*

EDIT: Just read my post... amazing I'm a mod ehh?  I just sent an email saying "I'll happily moderate a forum or two." and I was made one.. hehe.

EDIT: I just read the review for the Jeep Compass... Damn the Japanese for buying Jeep out and releasing the Liberty.. and now the Compass?!  Fuck!  How can they claim A 3.7-lite, 210-horsepower V6 gives it plenty of road-shredding power?!  They packed the 1978 J10 1/2 Ton pickup with a beefy 360 Cubic Inch motor!  It got only 5 miles to the gallon and had a top speed of 75 Mph because it was ALL POWER!

That and they threw the infamous 327 in a lot of their Wagoneers too.  Damn that Liberty.. Damn it.
