Koyaanisqatsi, means "life out of balance" ? Was going to put that down, excellent, atmospheric film. Have you seen they have released a new one in the trilogy I think now....

Na-qoy-qatsi::

1. A life of killing each other
2. War as a way of life.
3. (Interpreted) Civilized violence.

Quite apt for our present way of life.

I've heard of "War" isn't it a mid eighties Russian film? Who directed it? I'd like to see it. I like Andrei Tarkovsky (Stanislaw Lem) Solaris. Still haven't seen the new version, though I doubt it will be as good. One of his other films that I love is "Stalker".

The only gripe I have with Saving Private Ryan is that there are absolutely no Free French, British, Canadian etc.. troops anywere in that film. That's typical Hollywood distorting the truth, I think it shows great disrespect. Apart from that it is good film though.

Alright. Many of the following are a bit obscure, so I will give the nationality of the movies. There are many movies I haven't seen that I'd like to see, and I don't have an elaborate cinematographic culture, but here goes:

Well, I haven't seen the new version either. Btw there is another movie called "War", but it's about Chechnya war (sorry, but i can't call it an anti-terror operation)  (a good action movie, though, and it shows some real aspects of life in Russia). Oh, that made me remember another Chechnya war -based movie - "Purgatory". It did impress me.

And about Saving Private Ryan showing disrespect - I agree with you. I've been to the US - most of 'em think that US won the Second World War (no offence. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I encountered).

I had some thinking and decided to do some explaining.
First, I apologise for any offence in my latest post in this topic. I didn't mean to insult anyone and  I don't want it to escalate into any political arguement (as we had recently). This is just my own opinion and if anyone wishes to overpersuade me - please do it via E-mail or send me a private message.
Thank you.

Yes, that's the one I was talking about. I didn't like some "special effects" work (like helicopters shooting flares instead of rockets), but as I've said it's a good action movie and shows somesides of life in Russia.
