You don't really "fall" in an automobile, so the "bigger you are" adage doesn't apply.
Generally, the more massive the vehicle, the better armored it is.
Larger vehicles also tend to have more "crumple space," meaning there is more car that can be destroyed, absorbing the kinetic energy of the collision, before the passenger compartment is compromised.
Good engineering is more important than size, however. You can find some small vehicles which are structurally more sound than some large vehicles. This is why it's good to read Consumer Reports before buying a car.
Larger vehicles are more visible, so they are safer in that respect.
