So many throwaway statements here. If you are genuinely suprised at those statements then you need to take a good hard look at yourself - there is a world outside America. And many people say many nice things about USA - at least in my visits to foreign soils that has always been the case.

Yes people all over the world are trying to get into the USA, it's called being a member of the international community, and for your information USA has one of the LOWER immigration rates in the world.

And yes I can NAME Americans working on foreign soils, I know of many that are trying to work in foreign lands. In fact the American Government ranks emmigration of nationals as one of it's biggest problems, because millions of intelligent Americans have moved away and have set up home away from the motherland.

And let us remember one of, if not the, biggest factor in the rise of the USA is immigration, without it this nation would not exist.

America is country of beauty in many aspects. From the green and rolling lands of New England (which I personally consider one of the most wonderful places on EARTH), to the vast expances of farms in Wyoming, to the desert lands down New Mexico way to the swamps land of Louisiana. This coutry has a wide range of beautiful countryside. It is a land where people are welcoming, generous in nature and pleasant to each other. Where food is appreciated on a massive scale, and culinary skills are considered more important than most any other skill. Where cultures have met and co-exist, where people will support you fully if you show them your true colors. It is coutry that has given much to the world, and has helped out many people across the world, where people will give heart and soul of themselves for what they believe, it is coutry of principle and saying how you really feel.

but i'm from a small nation in central america called El Salvador. Where the government is facist, the paramilitary has all but stop civil liberities, and you have 2 options when you turn 18; join the army, or join a resistence group.

and who funds this country? well, i don't want to spoil for you. if you care that much, research for yourself.

I know I have a lot to be thankful for by living in the free world, but what makes me angry is how everyone is still so miserable. The only other country I've been to is Canada, and that was for like a month, so I don't really know what it's like to suffer, unless you count having to put up with Canada's crappy TV programming for a month.

These people that "think" they are suffering only need visit a country where people really "do" suffer. I believe they would reconsider their own feeling of "suffering" and realize how well they really have it.

The absolute poorest people in our country have it better than the wealthiest in some countries. And it's the failure to realize this that is wrong with the world today. It's all about want, want, want, or what does the other guy have, rather than being appreciative for what you have already and maybe even take it a step farther and help those that aren't so lucky.

I had to add this. Hammond Indiana (30 min SE of chicago) SUCKS SO BAAAAAAD!   I am close to Gary Indiana. The murder capitol of the USA. Where Wako Jako (Michael Jakso)n was born.  I seen some nasty things.

 Chicago though. OMG! Its a beautifull city.  Reminds me alot of Peiraia (Greek port near Athens). Its an awesome city During Spring and Summer. And the girls!! They are mucho hot.
 

But my favorite place is NYC.
I am such a dickhead for leaving NY Brooklyn.  Talk about being young and stupid and a moron and  a dumbass and a an idiot.  Well you get the idea.

That is very true Voidmain. Still, shouldn't people be upset and unhappy about their country's problems, rather then just kicking back and realizing how much better their "crappy" country is, compared to so many other places? That is how you get apathy and the desire to not rock the boat.

You are absolutely correct. I didn't mean to sound like it is good enough to sit back and realize how good you have it. Taking an active role in helping others is one way that you learn that your own problems might not be that big after all. Obviously the US doesn't even come close to having the resources to solve all of the worlds problems let alone their own but it shouldn't stop people from trying.
