component question
avello500:
so its time to build the computer for my studio.
of course the budget is tight so im doing as much research to get the most of what i have. i will be buying a amd proc.
now the main focus of my questions are FSB speeds.
of course i would like to go with a 333fsb.
however to do it well i would be outside of my budget. i think i could live well for the time being at 266FSB .
a new motherboard is going to be purcheased regardless and im covered on this issue.
from what i have seen damn near everysite has a different qualification for FSB speeds.
does anyone know where to find exact data on this.
i have a xp2000, some sites show it at 133fsb, others at 266fsb.
but then there are multiple cores and L2 cache and info on id #s, and ... it all makes my head smoke.
if i could get solid data my life would be so much more happy, and i could get to making music and of course taking over the world.
anyways, thanks

Raw data means nothing - real world benchmarks mean all.
avello500:
ive seen plenty of benchmarks.
unfortunatley the xp2200+ from one site is totally different than the next site. one has 133fsb and 64k L2
the next has 266fsb and 256kL2. the next 266 and 64.
and of course if i had the 4grand i would have a nice polished apple.
what i could use is a refence of serial #s to specs.

KernelPanic:
Athlon XP's do have a 133Mhz FSB, but they write on the rise and fall of each clock (DDR) do effectively it is a 266Mhz bus.
I believe that the 333MHz(166) Bus kicks in at around the XP2800+.
No Thunderbirds/Xp's have 64k of Level 2 cache, I think the only processor to have that little for a long while was the Intel Celery. I believe the Duron has 128k.
The Athlon's with the 333Mhz FSB have more cache than the rest - 384k
Hope that answered your question, but i wasn't really sure what your question was
Try www.amd.com they will have accurate specs.
avello500:
