Mysterious "W" drive
« on: 5 January 2002, 18:46 »
I use Win98, and have held off upgrading to another MSuck product, mainly because of what I read here. I am learning (hence the name) and I have a question.

Whenever I use Windows Explorer to clean out Temp files or TempInternet, I see this "W" drive pop up twice. Try to access this drive, and "It's Moved". Answer ok and another WinExplorer screen opens up over the original, showing contents of Desktop.

What is going on? At first I thought I had a virus of some sort, now I believe this is some WIndows procedure to keep me from deleting files.

Hey Calum, I bet this is Bill Gates himself.  This is what he's resorted to.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

W: drive is just some bullshit that replaces some items like the Control Panel when explorer.exe screws up. Just refresh or close and restart explorer.exe.

I can never tell the difference between the different types of Windows idiots and flooders.

I really doubt that. This is more Steve Ballmer's style.

Who thought it would be a good idea for Ballmer to pretend he was an ape? I know the operating system is unevolved, but...
