well, the most important reason is that i can not download it, and i don't feel like bugging my friends for the next 4 months to get them to dl it for me...

having some problems now. I installed that RPM fine, but when I do apt-get in the terminal it says the command doesn't exist.

Also try typing /sbin/apt-get instead of apt-get
/sbin is where the system programs are often kept.

thx for your help, that apt-get thing makes it so much easier to install software. I even got vncserver installed and running. Now I can use my Linux box from my Mac, until I get a better monitor for it. Also somehow Linux automatically installed my printer that was shared from my windows box, just like my Mac, good job RH (or whoever did that)
I do have one ?. In VNC it seems to drop out the antialiasing and cursor shadow. Is there any way to keep those? I like them, and over a lan it won't slow it down much.

isn't there some company that will download it for almost cost price in your area? there are three such companies in my area that i have used satisfactorily. (best is www.linuxemporium.co.uk for anybody in the UK) i got red hat (actually from http://smb-computing.co.uk/ ) for
