Software evolution.

Most software gets better with every new release, Some new releses get bigger, some get smaller. But Microsoft go for bigger... Sometimes it gets better (About every 5 years) but they just make it bigger and add simple things. Some things get bigger and better but Microsoft just get BIGGER.

Windows 98 about 210/300M

Windows XP about 1 gig (not sure)
Red-Hat 7.2 (has more apps with it)
250m/2.5gig MORE APPS NOT BLOASTED
The usual Red-Hat install (with more apps then windows) is about 1.5gig
Windows XP with office and all the usual crap that you must download, includeing service packs can be 5 gig.

its because windows has certain "deals" with intel, Microsoft makes their software bigger and need it needs the newest intel hardware, Intel makes its processors suit windows in return.

i also believe that there is a government conspiracy behind this: The government is secretly making microsoft, put in hidden "holes" and keys within windows, so that they can take control, or look at everything inside your computers. The exact reason they want to do this is yet to be determined.

Mmm check the times on thes posts. I think that Microsoft like to use numbers to make people like there stuff like the XBOX is a 32bit 733mhz cpu
and the Gamecubes CPU is about 400mhz but its 128bit
and its alot faster than even some P4 CPU's
