I just saw antitrust.  Wow that movie brings a smile to my face.  It wasn't perfect, but still great.

The only thing I didn't like is that the Kid Programmers were in the "open source" movement instead of the "free software" movement.  But thats minute, and probably because the movie people knew that most people don't know what free software is, but do know what open source is.

Whatever, it was cool.  If I could have a Mercedes and all that cool shit, I would work for old Billy up north. until he killed my friend, then I would do something drastic.

I've never heard of it before. Would it be in a standard video store?

Most Blockbusters have it, if you have those stores around there.

Yes,

That movie changed my life.  That's why I changed my major to Comp. Sci.

Yeah, I would work for Billy G. for a lot of money.  Then I'd leak code and probably be killed, but all for the good of open source software.

Right near the beginning of the movie, you can see that the computers they code on use gnome which means they use *nix. Hell even once he starts working for the Bill Gates like guy, his company even uses *nix in the daycare.

I can't say that it was the best movie I ever saw but it certainly was interesting! It could be educating for me as well, but I was already aware of open source. Unfortunately, some people don't know the difference between free and open source software and use the latter term to refer to both. Anyway, that's just me ranting.

Yes,

I felt it a nice touch to use *nix on the computers in this move.  Most movies use Macs b/c Apples likes supporting such endeavors.  Why don't more movies display *nix based systems?

Most places don't have them.  And if they use macs then the computers in the movies can be the same computers used to make the movies (more easily).  And apple probably pays for them and since you don't need someone very experienced to set them up it probably saves money.

Its always about the money, if Linux was truly cheaper to run than macs being given to them they would do that.

I almost busted a rib laughing when that kid said "He doesn't even know the FIRST THING about open source!" I never thought I'd hear that in a movie. That and remember the vids on the secret computer in the playground? One of them was showing a guy in a Red Hat.

.... Phillipe is the worst actor ever, he shows no emotion whatsoever.......This movie is poorly written, poorly acted, and if that wasnt bad enough, very poorly directed. If you really want to see it, wait till it is on HBO and waste two hours, like I did.

doesnt exactly make me want to run out and buy it. i absolutely hate ryan phillipe as well, but i like tim robbins. i dont know. i might rent it.
