Recovering a 'Compressed Folder' Password ?!?

I'm a clever Old Sod sometimes ;-p
Usually I actually WRITE DOWN Passwords...  
But...  

I created a WINDOWS 'Compressed Folder', cleverly ?!?...
encyrypting it with a Password, some time ago, but now
have no IDEA what the Pssword is ?!? :-(

I also ... cleverly ;-p ... at the time removed the password
from WINDOWS/DYNAZIP.(spy)log ;-p ... where of course it is
SHOWN    ...

Sooooo.... is there any way now to either RECOVER this Password,
or maybe 'edit' the Folder, so ANYTHING entered as the Password
would work ?!?.. desperation time

hmm. i have never heard of a 'windows compressed folder', so i'm unlikely to be of any help.

Sounds a bit like 'microsoft encrypted filesystem' or 'secure windows server' though. In other words, data in, garbage out...

Judging you by your homepage link, you probably downloaded a porn file and want to crack it open, without paying money to the original owners of the file. No help available here, even if I know what to do.

And what a shame you will get almost no revenue from people here, after all you can't advetise with pop-ups if the browser won't accept them, oh and when that browser also happens to block out your banner ad images... you get the idea.

Mike i am curious. internet is relatively new to the majority in malaysia is it not? have you come from there recently or are you an old hand at using computer stuff and networks?

also, can you confirm or deny these porn allegations? also, why are you using that POS 'operating system' anyway?

Forgotten Password to a WINDOWS ME 'Compressed Folder' be recovered
after it had been 'deleted' from Dynazip.log .... and the answer is,
according to both Micros~1 support and other "Experts Who Can Get
Into Things" ... simply "NO, it can't" :-((

So, thank you for your ... *cough* ... help and words of advice ...

your pious sarcasm aside, how did you think you could open a windows compressed folder on a dreamcast? i am very confused about what you are or were talking about?

Oh lord... why me  

I MEAN I use a Dreamcast Console to "Surf Safe"....  
Viruses/.EXE Files/Pop-ups/Scripting, etc are all harmless
and I can go anywhere, open any mail safely, etc, etc ....

The Windows Folder is of course... on the Lap-Top...
... where it will remain until I search through External
HD's and *Locate* the relevant password ... unless of
course there IS another way to bypass the password entry ?!?...

(If "The Riddler" ?!?.,.. I think ... is still around here, my 'Tame
Hacker', the lovely 'Little Flower',    once mailed him under the name
'Karen L', TELLING him Passwords TO 'Compressed Folders' *WERE*
actually visible IN WINDOWS/DYNAZIP.log file, btw.... which got some
:THANKS: 'cos apparently he didn't know that ?!?!.... if all that
"Rings any Bells" anywhere ?!?

goog idea. i use linux for the same thing and i can download files and be running programs at the same time too.

not that i know of, but i don't really put much of my effort into finding out vulnerabilities in microsoft stuff. Why not ring up microsoft? is this compressed folder part of their 'operating system'? I keep hearing them bleating on about how their operating system is so much more than any other system and how it includes all the apps and so on, so if this folder is part of their operating system maybe you should ask them for technical support regarding how to open it. You know you are entitled to get support from microsoft, it's included in your end user licence agreement which you can read here.

doesn't ring any of my bells i'm afraid and i am sorry but i have never seen the riddler post in this forum in all the time it has been up.

There is no neurosis here.

When you have had to clean up and recover as many systems as I have because people want to vist a porn site, because they don't understand what a dialer is, and how REALLY BAD it is to run untested programs, because it was only a zip file .... what possible damage could it do? then you may understand the total contempt I have for anyone who supports such sites, even peripherally.

You may have noticed, that the proper forum would be the hacker forum, and that it explicitly states, it is not about passwords and cracking programs.

I have heard of a way to open a password protected compressed file, but guess what you will have to pay M$ at least $600 (this figure is at least 1 year old) for the software, and I don't think that will necessarily give you all you need, I can't say for sure because I have never actually done it.
