I often think that some major windowed software developers/vendors do not mind file sharing and or installing, copying pirated software etc.
Look at the exposure, usage, acceptance and at little or no cost to the company. With the exception of lost revenue, the company has not suffered
If the product/app if 'window dressed' and marketed effectively, it becomes standard practice.
A creature of habit has the potential to become a 'law' abiding paying customer.
A creature of habit with no choice or little knowledge becomes snared and enslaved to the companies products and services.
I am in the lenghty and often messy process of deleting non-legal software off all my (5+)pc's.
I am purchasing/evaluating other more realisticly priced alternatives, essential for my 'wintrenched' working/developing/playing desktop.

Mandrake Linux is looking good as the replacement 'operating system' for 3 pc's
