From Calum's sig I guess he has read this book too. I have to recommend this book to everybody. It is really interesting and at the same time highly amusing.
The introduction to the International (Out of america) edition is also very good. It tells you of his stuggle to get the book published after 9/11 etc.

Just as an indicator of how good this is, this book became the best sellerr on amazon.co.uk before it was even released in the UK!

I haven't actually read the book. On Saturday however my girlfriend and I went to see Michael Moore's documentary 'Bowling For Columbine'. It is a documentary about gun crime, with particular reference to two incidents that happened in Michigan, one of them in Flint, Moore's home town.

On Sunday, we went to see Michael Moore's live show at the Roundhouse in Camden. He is incredibly inspiring. He is just one normal guy, but his conscience, and his belief that any old lardass can set the ball rolling and start great things happening is truly incredible.

I must point out, and i truly must, that Moore is in no way anti american. He's from the US, and is proud of his country, he is concerned however about the world we live in. It is truly rare to see somebody be as truthful about the world as Moore is.

He takes the facts, seperates them from the lies, and makes an intelligent opinion.

This behaviour is unprecedented in my opinion. Moore claims there are millions like him, who think the same way, and that makes me very happy. His book is currently the US' best selling book, and it has been on the best seller list for 36 weeks. I will certainly be buying a copy.

Just a question about Bowling for Columbine. I have not seen it yet, but was curious as to what it was about. So I looked some on the internet, it is sorta like a documentary. It seemed very neat alright, but im just concerned about one thing. It tries to answer why America has so many gun murders compared to other countries(or so that article says), so such a line concerns me. This movie is not gonna be some big intellectual thinkfest that comes to the conclusion that gun control=good right? I mean if it is, then I shall not be very happy...

in a word, no. as you probably know, there's no easy answer to this question, and Moore is in no way stupid enough to create one. Surely this much is evident from what i just said about him?

why don't you go and see it before passing a judgement?

I saw him on some crappy Unemployement (I mean morning) TV show the other day and he seemed like a cool guy. He's a bit like Geroge Carlin but more political.

He was talkign to the audience of the show, and it was cool. I don't think you would see such liberla views on a show like that in the US but we are still pretty oppressed over here. He threw in some cool UK facts as well.

I am glad his book is so popular. It proves that not everyone is a drone. IMO it doesn't take much to cause a change.

It's like this programme I saw last night about an oil rig near the arctic circle. It is oftewn is the path of icebergs with masses of millions of tons. What the do is sent some ships that use various method to deflect the iceberg slightly whilst it is quite far away. That has been enough for this rig to survive every time.

That's what we need to do deflect all this gorvernment/corporate sleaze/greed before it gets to close. Unfortunately the people bush has put into office makes that look rather difficult in america....

While we're talking about books, I'm reading Douglas Adams' The Salmon of Doubt (kind of a different mood). There's not only the actual story (that wasn't finished because he died before he was done), but a bunch of articles and interviews by him. I'm almost halfway through it right now, been a great read so far.
