Microsoft giving money to its enemies???

"Microsoft has indeed been starting to show up at Linux events claiming to have become kinder and gentler, but by bankrolling a workshop intended to provide guidance on OSS deployment its surely veering into excess of philanthropy territory."

The GPL is just a licence. It's irrelevant what the intention of the software is - if it's licenced under the GPL then it's a GPL program. Though actually I'm not sure that everything in SFU is GPL'd.
