Here's the FAQ that doesn't directly answer your question but it might give you an idea of how far along they are:

The basic Sterling engine concept has been around since the late 19th century; SOMEDAY, someone is going to get it right.  I'm 55, I'm NOT hoding my breath.  I've seen the rotary piston (Wankel), the free piston, the gas turbine, the hydrogen-cycle engine, the fuel-cell, and on and on; they were all going to be THE answer to replacing the 4-cycle reciprocating piston engine; guess what we're still using.
I'm SERIOUS about Linux; are you??

I'm guessing you are using a 4-cycle reciprocating engine. I, on the other hand, have an electric car. It's powered by a flux capacitor which I designed in 1955 but didn't perfect until 1985. The only way I could get the 1.21 gigawatts needed to drive the capacitor was through a nuclear reaction.

It wasn't until 1985 when I did a shady deal with Iraq for some plutonium did I get the necessary fuel. Of course today I picked up a Mr. Fusion ("made in N. Korea" sticker on the back). It uses normal household garbage for fuel so it's environmentally friendly. This keeps Woody happy.

I've found you are ok all the way up to about 87mph and then it starts shaking pretty bad. One time I hit 88 and ended up here.

I, on the other hand, am much more eco-friendly;  my Jeep is powered by 75 amphetimine-injected squirrels.  I use the exhaust to fertilize my garden, and when one of the squirrels craps out, I've always got a replacement (the little devils breed like rabbits...or squirrels).

Yes but is it road legal, there is no "Chev" in austrlaia, just Holden which make the most shit cars in the world, there actually Opel's with different badges and some other things. But ford truly make kick ass cars in Austrlia.

And my dads just build a 1932 Deuce Coupe (all Steal) With a 351. It weighs a bit less then a metric (Americans with there primative mesurement system made by imperials) tonn or somthing and will do about 8 or 9 seconds on the Quarter Mile and does 0-100 in... very fast. Not much to say about the handleing though...

Get a ford 8.4 litre (yes we can mesures things logically you screwy americans) with Quad turbos and it will get 1500 or 2000 horsepower, about 1000kw's of fun. (Hell Yeah). Thats a non roadlegal ford, those engines are made in the states. Pity US Senators have no dicks, and make gay road laws.

I built the engine in my '55 Chevrolet (Belaire 2 dor hardtop) myself; it was originally a 1964 Corvette fuel injected 327 cu. in. (approx 5.3 liter) V-8.  Stock horsepower was rated @ 340 HP @ 6500 RPM; when it was finished, I estimate an honest 525 HP @7200 RPM.  When I was racing, my normal shift point was 8200/8300 RPM; not bad for 1971, eh?
By the way, I don't know of any laws in the US that resrict horsepower in road-use cars in this country, althogh some anti-pollution laws do make it difficult.
