few more reg files from office2000
« on: 30 January 2002, 17:05 »
i installed only exel/word and i did take off
allmost all unn.ness. attributes.
but still it extracted "just" 12000 new registry
files in.
how in hell these progs need so much links in registry.
now it takes 5mins to start up.
and it seems that if i would install the rest
, i would have to have my sleeping bag next to
comp. desk.

god. would someone hang bill gates from his nuts
in a cofee mug???

Hey,

and with every blue screen of death you have another 5 minute startup. That really sucks.

Isn't there a little prog that comes with Office2000 that's supposed to speed up how fast Office starts? Not exactly the problem you're having, true, but might as well run it once and see if it helps.

I prefer to avoid MSOffice at all costs, though; the thing that just amazes me about Office is the fact that the entire suite of applications sucks ass but that people still insist on using it. I run MacOS, so my preferred alternative is AppleWorks - however, there are other programs you can use (that can read/write Office formats), so I'd do some shopping around for a better program if I were you . . .
I can't get over you until you get out from under him.

Well, if you only want Excel and Word, then what you need to do is uninstall Office and instead, get 602Office 2001 from http://www.software602.com/products/pcs/
This program emulates Word2002 and Excel2002 almost perfectly. It includes all the features that Office has, it supports all the proprietary M$ file formats and a few others, and here's the good bit... IT'S FREE!
Yes, this program is utterly free. You do need to register within a month of installing it, but it's free. Much leaner and nicer than Office too. There is no reason for you not to install this.
