I did a clean install of Win2k and SuSE 9 about a month ago, I literally just double clicked the ATI setup file, it opened, I clicked next twice and waited two minutes or so, then rebooted. It was a lot harder than that in SuSE 9. I can't really comment much more on the drivers in Windows issue.. since doing a clean install of 2k left me with only video drivers to install, and ATI's Windows drivers are pretty good.
But, today I upgraded to SuSE 9.1 and during the setup it told me I had a Radeon video card, and that hardware accleration was disabled. I checked a box and it was enabled, and when the install finished I could play games or whatever.. good stuff! SuSE 9.1 is real good
