A new console competitor?!?!?!?!?
« on: 24 July 2002, 15:04 »
Well, i have to inform all you fellow microsoft haters of a new console in production designed to compete with the Xbox.
This new console is being designed primarily by me at my administration, Camel inc.
It is called the PovBox(TM) and is in the design process right now, howeverit will only be available to all of you eager spectators in Sydney, Australia. Pictures will be available as soon as the console has been completed.
It will of coarse use components similar to the Xbox, these include:
-a modified version of windows NT (aka Windows XP)
-$5 game controllers, specifically designed for comfort and durability (we are not responsible for any breakages)
-a very powerful processor to help the console compete on the pc market for a long time, a very powerfull PENTIUM 2 266, WOW!!!
-the Xbox has a geforce in it, since they are all the same with only speed changes and a few useless features, i think i will put in a gf2 mx 200 with 64 meg of unified ram.
-we are still discussing wether or not there will be a cd rom or a dvd rom drive.
-as an example of microsoft, we will be sure to put a very irritating file system on the hard drive of this console, NTFS!!
-finally, no internet connection will be possible with the console, but you will be capable of connecting to each other via lan, so you can play against each other!!! WOW!!!

i hope you enjoyed hearing about the biggest console comptetitor this year, i am sure that you all will agree it has the hardware to take on the Xbox, it will be a big project, it may take a whole 2 weeks to complete!!!

Finally, we estimate the product to be available for $30 US, with minor profit margins

It'll be in direct competition with the Super Megason IV then
If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly.

Will it have the Xbox's feature of periodically "pausing" in such a way that users are forced to hit the reset button, so that gamers will have periods of rest and relaxation between their gaming sessions?

My little brother visited a friend who actually thought this freezing was a feature of the Xbox.  This scared my brother so much that he is getting me to upgrade his Win98 machine to Linux before "I get brainwashed too".  He still remembers when his games didn't crash often (DOS).
Anything I state, unless I say otherwise, is my opinion.  If I say I observed something then I observed it, if I say something is true than that's an opinion.
