It seems that whatever went wrong with the forums and the parent site is right now. But the place seems dead right now...  :(

I have to admit that I was under the impression that the site had been hacked, myself. Since it was a hard drive fault though and everything, or almost everything was salvaged, it's fine with me..   :D

I saw the front page, and laughed...it explained everything.

Maxtor hard drives do have a fairly high fail rate. I stopped buying them after I found this out the hard way...

i chose to buy a reconditioned machine containind a maxtor 15.2 Gig drive, and the very next day my LUG mailing list started discussing faultds that had been reported with a lot of maxtor 10 and 20 Gig drives. three months later, it still works fine, but needless to say i backup more regularly than i did on the last machine.
