Yeah, I think this is one of the MANY people I get e-mails from, after they get a vhost, asking "ok, cool. So ummm, now how do I use it?"

I wish people would KNOW what they were doing before getting a vhost from me, potentially taking a name somebody else (someone with a clue) wanted and could've used.
In short, if you want to show off your cute little vhost on IRC (which is what most people get them for), you need:
- A static IP address. Most people don't have this.
- Control over what your IP address reverses as. If you're just a customer of some ISP (be it dialup, DSL, cable, etc.), chances are 99% that you don't have this.
OR
- Someone with access to the above, who's willing to set up an IRC bouncer on their box for you.
Which means that ultimately, not a whole lot of people are qualified to fully use a vhost. The huge majority of IP addresses people give me for a vhost are dynamically-assigned ISP addresses. I'll do a reverse lookup on them sometimes, out of curiosity, and this is the case a depressingly high percentage of the time.
