New registration procedures in place.
« on: 12 April 2002, 07:08 »
Because of the proliferation of idiocy on some areas of the forums, I've made the following changes:

- When you register, your password is mailed to you (meaning you must provide a valid e-mail address).

- You can't register with an e-mail address that already has an account associated with it.

And of course, you must be registered to post messages.

I'm hoping this will help curb the proliferation of the "secretive cunt," whose account(s) I'll now proceed to delete . . .

(sigh)  This is the first time I've had to do this to a user, and I kind of hate doing it, but his assholism has forced my hand.

Hope this helps . . .

Thank-you Mr Webmaster. If the world has more people like you i might just be able to sleep at night.
But i do like the attention of idiots that want to be me. Now i know how elvis would feel, but yes this will help. I still think Goosenbury should be banned from living.

It was probably one of those new Microsoft power cables.  You know, the ones on the shelf right next to the Microsoft keyboard and mouse. At least they print Microsoft in big bold letters on the boxes so I don't have to look very hard to realize which equipment I'm not going to buy.

But Apple would never stoop that low... And besides, first thing it does is reduce your voltage to 95 volts. No one could *ever* need 110 volts (220 reduced to 185 for power cords sold in Europe).

Speaking of which, you ever switched that little red voltage convertor switch to 220 and tried to power on an old 486 running 95?

Now that's pretty cool. I've heard you can fry a box if you leave it on like that.

Good move. I like it. It would certainly give the younger representatives of my generation something to think about. We are born to speed up our lives and live on maximum speed at all times. Maybe this is why we think the whole society is screwed up today. Everything goes too fast and the margins for error are way too limited. When something goes wrong, instead of fixing it, we either blame somebody else or we throw the whole package away. A tear, wear down and throw away-society. No wonder the garbage heaps are getting bigger everywhere.

And I think we can blame computers in general, and wintel computers in particular, for some of this. When even grownups are getting frustrated by a computer then something is wrong.

If you wanna write a protest song from this then go right ahead...
