when i first came here i was a windowsXP guy. when it came out, i was out there looking for my copy (until i found/acquired the corporate edition (no activation)). i lurked for a bit and read just about every thread, read the front page, and started to look for a better solution. and thanks to this site, i found linux. of course, last summer i found jaguar also, and i havent been happier with computers. i actually registered an account but lost the password about 2 months earlier. after a while with no response from webmaster, i registered another one  ;)  had i been belittled and flamed i probably would still be using windows.

anyways. welcome to the MES!  ;)

Hehe, I still remember Calum's first posts. He was using Windows ME back then. I wasn't registered at the time but I used to visit the forums from almost the very beginning. I was a bit reluctant to register because English is not my first language, but it looks like I can communicate now.   :D

Anyway, end of rant, Arm's friend welcome to the MES forums.

   ;)

Exact same thing here, almost.
I first came here as a Win2K user, and from reading all the post (as an unregistered user at the time) I started getting used to the idea of trying out something else and after a little while I registered and installed SuSE 8.0, still dual-booting though.
After I started to have some serious gripes with Yast I installed RH 8.0 and I've given up on Windows for quite a long time now

i remember when i first found this site...i was a member of Neworder.box.sk for awhile, and was asking a user, kezef, a question abuot linux. i looked in his profile and found his email addy had @fuckmicrosoft.com. i thought that was kinda funny, so i when to www.fuckmicrosoft.com and was amazed it was a site. i've always hated windows. (when i first got windows 95, i asked my dad (who knew the most of anyone in my house about computers) if i could put win3.1 on my computer again, but he just kinda laughed)

there was some anti microsoft people at neworder, but i liked this site cause there was a high concentration of the haters.

I found this place trying to find sites to link from my then-crappy site. I thought, "hey I wonder if anyone has fuckmicrosoft domain!" so I ended up here. Looking back, even as a Mac user back then too (never owned a copy of Windows in my life, thank you), I'm surprised at how much Microsoft stuff I used. IE, Word, Win Media Player, now I'm completely Microsoft free thanks to these forums.
