For some strange reason (boredome) I did a whois lookup on microsoft.com and i found multiple strange and comic listings. Here is an example:

Server Name: MICROSOFT.COM.SHOULD.GIVE.UP.BECAUSE.LINUXISGOD.COM

IP Address: 65.160.248.13

This Domain microsoft.com is Registered

Try it out for youself. If anybody could tell me what the hell these are about I would like to know.

There is no easy way for me to explain this, so I will let the good people at attrition do the talking.

Due to recent attacks against Microsoft, including Denial of Service attacks against their DNS servers, the masses have been quick to point out odd entries when doing 'whois' requests. The results have lead to a flood of mail and often times articles mentioning these sites were 'hacked'. This simply is NOT the case. In the case of Microsoft, many of these entries have been there for weeks if not months. These do NOT mean DNS servers or root name servers were hacked, rather it means you are not familiar with nameservers, Internic, and domain registrations.

That is not much of an explaination....
