Anyone want free hosting?
« on: 19 January 2003, 01:44 »
I have 35GB of bandwidth and 2.5GB of space on my hands, with CPanel5, unlimited email, unllimited ftp accounts, unlimited mysql databases, etc.

Sooo.... Anyone wants free hosting? Just to host images, I guess. Or something. I was going to make a hosting business, but decided against it because I don't have the time (so I'll do a host comparison site instead--I already bought the domain "BestHostBuy.com").

And yes, I will host domains (I have the nameservers setup).

hey could you set up a mail server or somethign for us to use? I need a free email accont so i can sign up for forums and stop using hotmail. Also would you host maybe the MES CS server so we could get a clan going? I would get the domain MESclanerver.com if you will host it. I will could also send you a directory that has everything you need to run a cs sserver all you would have to do is start it.

No, can't. Maybe in a few months when I could spare enough resources to run one, but not now. Sorry.

Heh heh, you have *more* than enough power to run both hosting and web based email off of those machines assuming you wouldn't have thousands of people using it for mail (and even if you did really). I like "IMP" which is part of the "HORDE" project for a web based email (and collaboration) interface:

http://www.horde.org/imp/

But I can understand not wanting to mess with it if you don't have the time. And there is always www.linuxmail.org which is a great free mail host.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

No no, mail is configured. I can give out mail accounts, I guess. I was talking about running a CS server.

By the way, I already have Horde and NeoMail installed. I don't feel right about giving out free email accounts while the webmaster is selling them, though (to the same people).

I wouldn't do it then, unless it is just for you and a couple of personal friends (and the webmaster dude doesn't have a problem with it). I use IMP for in addition to POP/IMAP for my clients. They seem to like it. Haven't tried NeoMail..
