Mac OS vs. Windows XP vs. Linux
« on: 29 September 2002, 14:42 »
This is an interesting little article, that seemed mostly unbiased for once. It had more to do with the graphical interface and tools and options available to each operating system. Actually the article seemed to be Mac OS vs. Windows, but they decided to throw linux in at the last minute. When it comes down to it, Linux has almost every feature that MacOS and Windows XP have and in some cases, like flie system support, it has more. Check out this article at http://thetechnozone.com/comdex/2002/OS_Shootout-2002.htm

i'd take the Mac, it's as easy to use as Windows, as strong as linux.

great article   ;)

i like the thing under defrag
MacOS 10: non-issue
MacOS10.1: by third party but a non-issue
WindowsXP: yes
Linux: a non-issue

lol  :D

A very good and unbiased article indeed. Anyway, I've made my decision and am waiting for my brand new iBook to arrive tomorrow    . My few Windoze days will be from tomorrow totally over

Might I suggest getting more than 128MB of RAM. A friend over here has an old snow iMac 600Mhz, and it tends to lag alot.

I checked her top and she gets upwards of 5000 pageouts!! Her uptime is like 1.5 eek!!!

Anyway, Id say anything over 128MB of RAM is perfect. Unfortunetly Aqua is a RAM hog   :( .

Tho, 10.2 is ALOT faster even on 128RAM. So it depends, I would get a few more megs, I mean 32MB is plenty. It just needs more than 128MB.
