i am thinking about getting 2 Athlon MP 2000s and was wondering if i only have one and plug it into the motherboard if it will work? Also would i use normal heatsinks on the proccesors?

My friend Artur (Not arther, hes polish) has a dual socket mb and only one CPU, so yes.

And the heatsink is all the same, but you could try water cooling! (Fun).

Wow, very interesting indeed:

http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3

They list some recommended processors, things like dual 2GHz Athlons, render farms consisting of 2.4GHz Athlons, etc...

They mentioned Kino which I like which is more for home movie editing and doesn't have nearly the processor requirements as this. But cinelerra certainly looks interesting.

Maybe so but if you would have looked at the cinelerra site you might have noticed that there is no PPC port.

That's "very hard to compile" on an x86 box. It would be "extremely hard to compile" on a PPC because it isn't ported to PPC. You are more than welcome to port it though.

P.S. I just downloaded/installed it. Sweet looking interface but I have *no clue* as to how to use it.

For guys like you - Linux gurus who also like general purpose computing - there's eliteness in doing the unusual. You want to create your own niche. You want to try things no-one else will.
-Its aimed at you voidmain...

If i had a PPC id port it. Any mac people here wanna do it?
