Sniper Strikes Again
« on: 20 October 2002, 10:27 »
Hey folks I know this is completely off topic but I was just watching The Fox News channel (I live in WA state and it was 9:30pm when I saw it) and the sniper
has struck again. Anyway, the person is in serious but stable condition. Ok. Now I will attempt to move on... I have been coming to this board for along time
and think you folks are right on. I will contribute any usefull info I come accross to this board
even if its my own two cents.javascript: x()
Big Grin
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

They are not going to catch the sniper anytime soon.  The sniper is using tactics mostly found in the US MILITARY SPECIAL FORCES!!!!  Meer cops won't catch him.  In fact, he is shooting from wooded areas and they searched them right?  Heh, I would bet money that when the cops searched those fields, they stepped on him a few times and didn't even know it(that means he is hiding in the ground).  They won't catch him (soon at least).

I wonder if this guy takes requests...

Hmmm, seems like there *may* be a possibility that they have found out who the sniper is. And guess what, from Washington state, just down the road from Microsoft headquarters. At any rate, they just pulled up a tree stump that they believe may have been used for target practice (or sighting in the gun). If the bullets they pull from the stump match then they likely know who they are looking for. Keep your fingers crossed!

The whole snier thing is bad but it is getting a bit out of hand in the DC area where i live. I know that he is not going to be caught any time soon and that he is going to keep terroizing the people but we need to move on. My skool for example we are not aloud to go outside. That means that i do not get to do drivers edd which means i cant drive legally. I would go out and drive i am not afraid of being shot and i think no one else should be to. oh yah it is a female scandanvian olympian
you know its a bad day when you look more sober then usual

I agree that they are going over board. It's a serious case of CYA by the people in charge. I mean really, what are the chances?  And if you close down the school, all the kids go to the mall where they are more out in the open.

What I can't figure out is, why don't the communities start a neighborhood watch program? At least until the sniper is off the streets. It wouldn't be that hard to put one or two people on every street corner keeping an eye out for suspicious activity. If it were happening in my community I would try and organize such a thing. Hell, you could probably even get plenty of out of state volunteers to help.

Void, I agree, but let me be the devil's advocate for a sec:

What if he shot the neighborhood watch people? It would just give him some more targets.

You're forgetting one thing. This person is a coward. If you had neighborhood watch on *every* corner. Wouldn't it look a little suspicious to the neighborhood watch people if a car pulled up next to some woods, someone gets out with a rifle length bag and walk into the woods? I think I would start calling people, and also I would get behind something with a lot of mass.
