I'm rather confused about this. How could expressing my own opinion about something and then informing it of my opinion break any rules. In the Lycos Terms and Conditions it said this:

From an IHA regular,

I'm not an admin from IHA but would just like to clarify that little email.  It was sent by one of our more retarded members, unfortunatly, who doesn't know what he is talking about for the most part.  You can feel free to disregard it.

The sensativity to being spammed or flamed from other sites arose from an incident a while back in which there was an organised effort by the members of this site to exicute a DOS attack against IHA forums through excessive trolling and posting the same line over and over.  They had already propegated similar efforts at PCMech forums prior to this even and IHA admin was tipped off.  The site's providor was notified of the violation of TOS and JulesTM Forums were disabled for a period of time. They were re-activated on the contingency that their behavior would be spotless.

The email sent to the Admin at IHA was misleading in that it called the review a "flame."  That review was nothing more, and does not qualify as a flame; it is merely a review, interesting and reasonably informative if not entirely unbiased.  Most of the content at IHA is from a bygone era.  The site, ihateapple.com was once owned and operated as a hate site; at this time IHA is undergoing preliminary work for a total face lift and/or content gut.  (Think hunting gut.)  I'd describe it as an anti-advocacy site, but the forums are the heart and soul of the domain.  It is a community of folks who enjoy each others comments and concerns for just about any issue whether it be news related, political, social, personal/emotional, and even technical (gasp!).  The web master is a Mac user, and most if not all the forum themes are designed by one of our resident maccies, on a mac.  At least 40% of the regulars have a mac as their primary computer and many if not most of the others either own or use, on a regular basis, a Macintosh.  The broad consensus is that all platforms are all fine and dandy.  It's just that every body has their own sense of style and preference and place different importance on the different aspects of the computer experience.

Why keep ihateapple.com if we don't all REALLY hate Apple?  Lazy.  Why bother?  Stuck in a rut?  Tradition?  Old times sake?

When I wrote that "review" and sent that email informing the IHA webmaster, I didn't know flame was such an official term. But I did already know about IHA's anti-advocacy thing. With a URL like ihateapple.com how can I resist "reviewing" them, though? Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

Now I think I'll go make some backup copies of my site very quickly.

why did that jacob pillock say you could be shut down just for writing a review then?

by all means make backups, but i really don't think you have anything to fear. besides, you could easily shift your site to boomspeed (so long as it's a not for profit site, it's under 1Mb, and you don't want them to put adverts on your site) or netfirms (which is 25MB free, they put one advert on your pages, and no popups).

Another reason not to post in those forums is you will get spammed if you enter your email address. Last time I posted there I entered my evil band teacher's email instead. That's about the only advantage to posting there.

Really?  I've never been spammed from entereing my email there.  You may have it confused.  Sycraft (the guy who owns the server) is a very anal guy about these typs of things.  I can 100% guarentee you it was not because of any part of IHA admin's part that you recieved spam.  Anybody who goes to the site and see's your email addy can send you spam.  Did you make it public?  Spammer site crawlers do pick up those, y' know.  It's also (if it was Hotmail or Yahoo mail that your address was sold to spammers.  They do that.   :mad:  

BTW, very clever, that www.fuckapple.com.  I got a good kick out if it.

You folks hung up on the "hate" part of the domain, don't.  There is no hate involved.  Just the word.  Get over it and yourselves.
