If Linux doesn't have the solution, you have the wrong problem.

The difference in cars, autos, is ver small!  In the end its all owned by one market.

You will never be able to tamper with the on bord computer, change system settings and/or run away from that diagnostic.  the fact is no matter what the car is it is gonna cost a hole bunch.

Saying ford is better that blah blah is no better than saying my red car is better that your red car.

they're the same red cars!

If you want to talk about progress in the industry the Honda and Toyotas lead the way.  But thats only those two companys took time to relase hybrid veachles as well as a hole host of other auto advancements.  But in the end no matter how advance they might be,  it will always cost alot of money!

Insurance, costs money!
Gas, Money
Reparis again money!

Its a very old and closed industry!  Its basicaly an M$ wet dream.  No compatibility with parts, parts are very expensive no matter if there after market or whatever!

You cant just open a hood and attach any old computer to the engine.  The diagnostics tool is well above the 8 grand marker!

Can't escape insurance or other political fees like immisions testing!  Can't escape the rising cost of gas.  If you do opt for a hybrid or deasl engine, then the repairs cost even more!

Don't forget about plates, tolls and fees for your license and registry of the car!

In the end the hole this car vs that car goes out the window untill somebody comes up with an idea to get rid of these extra costs by opening up the standards of the auto industry to the average consumer and thus giving the consumer more choice!
