Microsoft snags CD copy-block deal

The software giant has gained considerable ground over the past few months in its bid to have its audio technology loaded on every copy-protected CD sold by record labels. While labels have yet to make any significant copy-protected releases in the United States, Microsoft is poised to have its technology onboard if they do.
And you know what? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK! I haven't bought, borrowed, or stole a CD sold by record labels since 2000. I simply got sick and tired paying some $20.00US for a goddamned CD that had one good song (the one that always got air play) on it and 10. 11. 12 other tunes that were unlistenable. If you want some really decent music go visit:Music Wizard. Between that site, and those it links to, you can download more music than you could listen to in a lifetime. All of it free, and legal to download. These are completely independent acts, and most of them are as good, and even better, than the acts that've signed with the major labels.

Think of it as the "Open Source" of music.   :D

Besides, do I really need to hear Brittney attempting yet another imitation of what Whitney Houston did ten years ago?

Microsoft and the RIAA: they can go straight to the darkest heart of Hell together for all I care       :D

No, think of it as the 'Free Software' of music; open source isn't analogous at all. This is another reason why Open Source isn't very good - its ideas aren't applicable to much outside the field of software.
