Hey everyone, I'm a 12 year old kid here and I'm against Microsoft(even though i use it).But I just did a parody on Microsoft for a class assignment. Is ther a way i can add an attachment here? Well it doesn't seem like it so I just wanted to show you guys my parody and maybe you can give me some pointers or something. Thx. I'll add the parody ad as soon as I find out how to add an attachment.

Hi ..Nahas....

Welcome to the forum.

Your write up on Microsoft's flaws has a lot of merit and is no small accomplishment for a person of your age.  I particularly admire your dedication to the anti-Microsoft movement, though it would carry a bit more weight if you would actually adopt a different OS yourself.  Don't take this as a severe criticism; I hated M$Windows for a long time before I took the plunge and built a Linux box of my own.

I might question whether your composition actually constitutes a parody though.  You've done a significant amount of research and put together what might better be described as a diatribe than a parody.  A parody would require a different approach to the theme.  A parody emulates the style or traits of the subject being parodized in a humorous or satirical style.  To put it more simply, it "pokes fun" at its target.

I don't want to minimize the effort you've put into this project and fully support your desire to deride and ridicule Microsoft.  I would just like you to re-examine your approach to the assignment so that you don't lose credit for missing an important element of it, i.e., developing a parody, rather than registering a complaint.

Feel free to contact me outside of this forum for assistance.

Jim

I think it's the ad that's a parody.

Good article, thinking outside the mainstream is something quite rare, at any age.

If you don't get a merit tell us and we'll come round and burn down your school.

Hello Nahasap, great work and welcome to the forums.

I must point out one thing. It doesn't look nice to your teacher if you write down "fuckMicrosoft.com" in your work.

It's better to write "ms-eradication.org", "freemypc.com" or "theydonothavethewayout.com" in your work, because all three domains leed to this website.

Keep up the good work, your doing great!

A couple of corrections, make it clear that the Macintosh came out first. It came out in 1984, M$ bullied Apple for some of their GUI code which they snuck away and built windows around,

Also, they dicked over IBM for some of thier OS/2 code when windows 3.1 came out.

All and all, very good.

a few other things. ibm was not aware of QDOS by seattle computerand would not have bought it from them anyway i suspect, and microsoft only bought the system because they knew ibm were looking for a system and wanted in on the money.
also, cp/m was not a seattle computer product, can't remember who it was by right now actually, but qdos illegally contained some code from cp/m, and so does msdos to this day.

also, compaq really held back for the better part of a year even when they could have surpassed ibm. they did not want to risk bringing out a pc that was better than ibm, and then have ibm bring one out because the buying public would all buy ibm's machines which of course would not have been compatible with compaq's. Compaq waited a long time before risking its neck bringing out a superior pc to the 286 (which was a total shambles of a cpu, never being intended for desktop use), and compaq first got a consortium of 4 other computer manufacturers to agree to all support the same standards before any of them went ahead and produced anything.

I can get more info if you like, coincidentally i am studying this in my first university module which i start next month.

by the way i really like the article. well done, well done, keep it up.
