Rhapsody DR1/DR2/PR1
« on: 14 January 2003, 20:08 »
Has anyone else tried this OS?

It's quite nice. Although I'm not as in-tune with UNIX style systems so I am a bit lost in it, but I am thinking Rhapsody is most likely easier to use than Linux per say.

I have it running happily inside Virtual PC right now. ;)

I have built up a collection of about over 6-8GB of 68K abandoned software and I figured I'd other endangered species to the list, so I included Rhapsody for both Intel & Mac.

Rhapsody was Apple's Pre-OS X development. It had a Mach Core and had a OS 8 style interface.

It also had a Intel version which ran a few applications. I don't have any links handy, Apple has pretty much erased any mention of Rhapsody from thier website and replaced it with OS X information, which is pretty much the same product, only more advanced.

I had a VPC disk image of Rhap DR2 for Intel and thought it was pretty neat. I could see much more of the NeXTStep influence on it, and very little of OS X, aside from the core stuff.

The difference in using Rhapsody and OS X is night and day. Rhapsody is alpha-quality. OS X through 10.1 was beta-quality. 10.2 is the final product.
