yes, ive started to know a bit much about linux, and freebsd, like i can operate them without too much man page reading any more. i think i need a mac so i can hack it up like my linux systems. like can you go grab the latest source of the kernel, and compile it and run everything on that instead of the kernel that apple ships with. and some x11 stuff.
x86: a hack on a hack of a hackway

You can get XDarwin to run X11 alongside Aqua. Works, and works very well.

As for kernels... what's the point? It's a microkernel OS, so you're not going to save any memory or increase speed, since it's all modular.

I believe he's referring to newer or modified versions of the same kernel, in which case the answer would probably be yes.
