Did you try tar -zxvf file.tar.gz?

Sometimes fonts are completely unreadable. Example here http://www3.sympatico.ca/ahri/desktop4.png

Mozilla and opera frequently display text in very bad fonts, but konqueror displays the same pages perfectly. Check out the difference. This is excite.com viewed in mozilla http://www3.sympatico.ca/ahri/desktop2.png and here it is in konqueror http://www3.sympatico.ca/ahri/desktop3.png

How do i get rid of bad fonts?

Edit ---> Preferences ---> Appearance ---> Fonts.

You can set your font-familes to display any font you want on your system.  I am using SuSE Linux 8.0, and I got most of the M$ fonts included, so I just checked that "Allow documents to use other fonts" option.  That way I get Arial, Impact, etc....the choice of M$ brainwashed "so-called" web-designers who only design their site to render properly on IE, and who don't use style sheets with font-family declarations.

I tried that already. I have no idea what fonts i should set them to. No matter what i pick, it still looks bad. I don't see how that is going to fix the fonts in the rest of the operating system like the kde control center.

How do i install windblows fonts?
